At the Mobile Pet Spa, we are asked regularly “How often should I groom my cat groomed?”
Grooming at Home: You should try to trim your pet’s nails, brush their teeth, clean their eyes and monitor their skin condition.
Nails – Nails need to be trimmed once a month. It is critical the nails get done as they can grow into the pad. Cats If destructive furniture clawing is a problem, we have a solution – soft paws! Cat Grooming Extras
Dental Care – You should try to brush your pet’s teeth daily (or at least weekly). It is important to maintain healthy teeth and gums and it prevents more widespread health problems in the future.
Eye Care – You should clean your cat’s eyes out when your notice any debris in them and for cats with sensitive eyes and tear staining (Persians and other short-nosed cats), you should clean 2x’s/day with a soft cotton ball and warm water.
Skin – Your pet’s skin is an indication of their overall health. Skin problems lead to excessive licking, chewing, scratching and general discomfort. Most issues are allergy related (food, seasonal changes, parasites) or can be stress-induced. They are the main reason pet owners go to the veterinarian!
Bath and Blow out:
Cats should be groomed at least 2x’s per year. If they are a breed that mats easily (Persians, Himalayans, are furless like the Sphynx or are senior cats that have problems keeping up with their coat, they should be groomed every 4-6 weeks.
